Join your neighbors and friends and let your voice be heard. Have you ever wondered what takes place at a City Council Meeting? You can find out by attending a Council Meeting, which is held on the first and third Monday of every month at 7 PM. All Council meetings and committee meetings are open to the public. The length of meeting times will vary according to the number of topics on the agenda. At each meeting, the Mayor updates City Council regarding official business. The Law and Finance Director is also present at each session to offer guidance on any issue. Most administrative staff members report on specific matters within their specialty field, and each member of City Council gives a report based on any issues regarding their particular ward, council committees or general announcements of public interest.
People are encouraged to speak to voice concerns, ask questions, offer opinions at each meeting. Each resident must complete a form before the start of the meeting. Any resident wishing to speak will be requested to identify themselves and state their address for the record. Closed sessions only occur when executive sessions are called to discuss pending litigation, property acquisition or personnel matters. Otherwise, the doors are open, and all are invited. Your ideas, thoughts, suggestions are always welcome.
