Creating a Structure for Future Success

Children’s development is profoundly affected by their environment. The most important parts of their environment are, of course, the family and the home, but what children encounter once they step outside their home also matters greatly. Will their role models be drug dealers loitering on the corner, or neighbors on their way to work? Will these children jump rope in safe playgrounds, or congregate in vacant lots?

The 5th Ward collaborative is built on five pillars: establishing a shared community vision, engaging in evidence-based decision making, centering on collaborative action, and devising reliable means of investment and sustainability with the goal that every child has the chance to be successful. The Collaborative will work to identify target areas that will best augment and build on the work of existing organizations providing measured outcomes around five overarching results for the community.
