Elyria residents who meet income guidelines can use a farmers market-style drive-through to get fresh produce from the Salvation Army on Broad Street. The giveaway starts at 11 a.m. and will end when all produce is distributed.
Traffic should enter the Salvation Army at 716 Broad St. from the west to take part. Participants need a current photo identification and a piece of mail showing they live in Elyria. Those taking part should be low- to moderate-income. A single person can earn up to $22,339 to qualify and a family of four can earn $46,095.
The market will distribute fresh produce from area farmers. The food comes from the Second Harvest Food Bank in Lorain. Other produce giveaways are set for Aug. 29, Sept. 26 and Oct. 24.
