The City of Elyria, Elyria City Schools and many family members, friends and supporters will hold a red, white and blue 2012 London Olympics Send-Off Celebration for Elyria Olympian Tianna Madison on Wednesday evening July 18thfrom 5:30 – 7:00pm in Ely Square
July 18th will officially be proclaimed Olympian Tianna Madison Day by the City of Elyria. “We want to paint the town red, white and blue in honor of Tianna, so roll out the ribbons Elyria and let the pride and encouragement flow from every household, business, school and office building in our community.
“The dedication, motivation, perseverance, discipline and shear will of Tianna Madison and her supportive family should be celebrated and emulated,” said Mayor Brinda. “Those who know Tianna not only know her as an athlete, but also as a scholar, friend, role model and all-around outstanding human being. We are so very proud of her and we know she will represent herself, her family and our community with dignity, grace and awe-inspiring athleticism on the world’s stage.”
And while Tianna is traveling and competing with other Olympic team members in the Golden Leagues competitions leading up to the games and will not be returning back to Elyria until after the Olympics, her family members will be attending the celebration and taking the signed banner to her in London to demonstrate hometown support. A video of the event will also be posted on YouTube for Tianna to view as she competes. “It is so very important for our family to be able to share this amazing experience with our community and we are just so grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and thoughts of encouragement ,” said Joanne Madison, Tianna’s mother.
