Save Our Children (SOC) of Elyria, Inc., is a non-profit organization that was formed out of the youth ministries of Asbury United Methodist Church (UMC), the oldest historically black church in Elyria, Ohio. Save Our Children was incorporated in June 1996 and received its tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in November 1997.


After-School Program serves up to 64 children (1st-10th grade), the majority of whom attend Franklin Elementary School and Oakwood Elementary School located in Elyria, Ohio.  Both schools are part of Elyria City Schools.  There are students who also attend Windsor Elementary, Eastern Hts.  Middle School, Northwood Middle School, and Elyria High School, which are part of the Elyria School system.  Several students also attend the Community School in Elyria.  Due to open enrollment, there are a few students who attend school in Lorain but live in Elyria who attend SOC.

Teen Youth Council is made up of youth from 7th-12th grades, and it provides opportunities for students to engage in projects that encourage them to make a difference in their community.

Summer Program provides a wide array of educational enrichment activities and field trips for children and youth living in Elyria.
