Four years ago, we accomplished together what everyone else thought was impossible: you taught a 21-year-old, first time candidate how to get into this messy political arena and make things happen. I was first elected with big dreams for our city, and with your help, I learned how to fight for what is important to our community, and to ensure the voice of every resident is heard.
On January 13th, it will be my great honor to once again take the oath of office and continue my service on the Elyria City Council. As we make plans for the future, I want to make sure you are one of the first to know what will be happening in our city.
This event is free and open to the public. The Elyria unit of the NAACP’s Executive Board will host a reception acknowledging Elyria’s newly elected 2014 City Council from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The reception will take place at Elyria City Hall prior to the swearing in ceremony.
For me, public service has always been much more than a job - it is a personal responsibility that I undertake with the greatest humility. I am so honored each and every day to have the opportunity to serve, and I will never forget how I got here, or where I came from. I will always carry your stories, and the moments we have shared together, deep in my heart.
I hope to see you there with me. I cannot wait to see how much more we are going accomplish for our city and its residents. Our next chapter is just beginning.
Thank you for an amazing 2013 - and have a very happy new year.
