You can find out by attending a Council Meeting, which is held on the first and third Monday of every month at 7 PM. All Council meetings and committee meetings are open to the public. The length of meeting times will vary according to the number of topics on the agenda. At each meeting, the Mayor updates City Council regarding official business. The Law and Finance Director is also present at each session to offer guidance on any issue. Most administrative staff members report on specific matters within their specialty field, and each member of City Council gives a report based on any issues regarding their particular ward, council committees or general announcements of public interest.
The Finance Director Responsible for accounts payable and receivable, payroll, internal auditing, fixed assets, cash management and financial reporting functions, as well as the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, analysis of investment alternatives for the City and performing month-end and year-end closings. Works with the Regional Income Tax Agency (R.I.T.A.) to manage the collection and administration of the City income tax revenues and enforcement of the City tax code. Responsible for collection and administration of hotel/motel tax revenues.
